Desai ResearchWe have recently launched Bond Indices for Indian Market. Currently we are tracking four indices on daily basis and plan to add more to help investors do factual benchmarking of their portfolios. Similar to our equity indices, the bond indices also enjoy unique methodology of index construction, which tries to provide as accurate as possible benchmarking based on nature of the bond market in India.

The index family is intended to be used as a pure benchmark which focuses on liquid issues in the bond market and their pricing, ensuring the index captures and replicates the market pulse accurately. Similar to our methodology for equity index construction, all the bond indices use the same procedure for issue selection and index calculation, within the purview of the style of index.

At present we are tracking six bond indices covering Indian Bond Market on a daily basis. All the G-Sec indices have base value of 1000 and base date of 2nd April 2008. The Corporate Bond Indices have a base value of 1000 and base date of 1st January 2009. The indices are:

»  DR Gilt Index (All Indian Government Dated Securities)

»  DR STB Index ( All Indian Government Dated Securities maturing within 10 years)

»  DR LTB Index ( All Indian Government Dated Securities maturing after 10 years)

»  DR SDL Index ( All State Government Loans)

»  DR Corporate Bond Index ( All Corporate Bonds Issues)

»  DR PSU Index ( Bonds Issued by Public Sector Undertakings/Institutions)
